PhD opportunity in Chemical Oceanography at National Taiwan University

The PhD program at the Institute of Oceanography, National Taiwan University (NTU), is currently seeking students interested in studying Chemical Oceanography, with a specific focus on trace elements and their isotope geochemistry, contributing to the GEOTRACES initiative.

Why Choose NTU for Chemical Oceanography?

State-of-the-Art Facilities: The Institute of Oceanography at NTU features state-of-the-art facilities, such as the research vessel (R/V New Ocean Researcher 1), GEOTRACES clean sampling system, clean labs, and MC-ICP-MS for trace elements and isotope research. These advanced laboratories offer an ideal environment for students to engage in cutting-edge research.

Global Impacts: Contribute to understanding and addressing crucial questions about oceanic processes, climate change, and marine ecosystems on a global scale. Taiwan is strategically located next to the Kuroshio current, a major ocean current that transports heat and materials from the equator to the subarctic Pacific. This unique geographical position provides great opportunities to understand the biogeochemical impact of the Kuroshio current on the West Pacific.

Fully Funded Opportunities: NTU provides a range of scholarships to support its PhD programs. You have the opportunity to benefit from fully funded PhD programs, including stipends that cover living expenses and research costs (scholarships).

Multicultural Experience: Immerse yourself in Taiwan's rich culture while enjoying a welcoming and inclusive international community at NTU.
